There are exhibits and displays found throughout the library. Learn more about reservable display areas. Below is what is currently on display in Alkek.
First Floor - Alkek One Student Gallery
The current exhibit in the Alkek One Student Gallery was produced in collaboration with a campus partner - Disabled & Proud. The featured artwork highlights the personal experiences of disabled students at Texas State University. This art exhibition aims to foster a greater sense of community and offers disabled students the opportunity to express their voices. The exhibit features images and discussions related to mental health struggles.
Second Floor – School of Theatre, Dance and Film Treasure Island Book Display
This Women’s History Month, we celebrate the women who shape the community at Texas State University. This display highlights female authors whose powerful works have stood the test of time. One such showcase is the production of Hedda Gabler, originally written by Henrik Ibsen and adapted by Patrick Marber. The Alkek display is meant to be a companion to the Theater Department's production of this work March 5-13 at the PSH Foundation Studio Theatre. Known for its complex portrayal of women and societal expectations, the play remains a timeless exploration of identity, power, and agency.
Join us in celebrating women’s voices in literature, theatre, and history.
