Texas State University's Archives and Research Center (ARC) is a state-of-the-art preservation storage facility. This facility allows the University Libraries to safely store materials and provide access while preserving decades of university treasures and library resources, including materials from the university, University Libraries General Collections, Special Collections & Archives, and The Wittliff Collections.

Patrons can request items from the University Libraries’ General Collections stored at the ARC for delivery to: Alkek Library Circulation Desk (San Marcos Campus); or the Round Rock Campus Library.

Know Before You Go

Due to the unique nature of the ARC, there are restrictions on how and when material can be viewed by university patrons or the general public.

Advance Requests

The ARC's viewing room and tours are by appointment only. Please submit advance requests (preferably 72 hours or more) before visiting the ARC. Materials can be requested through Special Collections and Archives or The Wittliff Collections. Advance notice ensures that requested materials are retrieved, acclimated, and ready for viewing upon arrival.

Acclimation Periods

To prevent damage, certain materials require an acclimation period of 24 hours before viewing to adjust to room temperature.
