Federal cuts affect access to TexShare databases

Earlier this month we learned that federal funding cuts would affect our access to databases provided through the TexShare agreement with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC). See the article from our now-archived blog for more information.

We can now share the affected titles. Our collections team has reviewed this list and they don't anticipate any gaps in services. Most of the databases we are losing cover topics that we already have in other content. Here is the list:

Dropped on May 31, 2025

  • ProQuest African American Heritage

Dropped on August 31, 2025

  • WorldCat (on FirstSearch)

On a positive note:

  • The Gale Chilton Library will continue to be accessible
  • We now have access to Newspapers.com Texas Edition

We can help you find alternatives to the dropped content if needed. For questions or concerns, please contact our Collections Team.
