Off-Campus Access

Off-campus database connections pass through a proxy server in order to identify users as TxState students/employees. All you need is your Texas State username and password to log into Library databases. This is the same as NetID (also called username/password) most students use for their campus email.

Usernames & passwords (Net ID)

Students can create their accounts online. Accounts can also be obtained at the M.C.S. Bldg. IT Assistance Center (ITAC), 2nd Floor, or by calling the desk at 512.245.ITAC (512.245.4822) or 512.245.4357.

Once you have your username and password - just go to the library's Databases page and click on the database name (such as ERIC, JSTOR, Medline, etc.). You will be automatically prompted for your username and password.

Problems Connecting to a Database?

If you are unable to connect to a particular database, here are a few tips.

1. Try connecting to a completely *different* database on the Library's database list. If you can successfully connect to *other* databases - then you know the connection problem is NOT with your username/password. Instead, the connection difficulty probably rests with just that individual database.

2. Report these malfunctioning databases by using the Online Resource Problem Report Form or call the Ask Us! Desk (512-245-2686).

3. Please note that some databases have a limited number of simultaneous users. So, it is always a good idea to try connecting again before reporting the problem. The connection may work perfectly the 2nd time you try it.

4. If you cannot connect to ANY library databases, then the problem is likely with your username, password, or workstation settings. In this case, contact the IT Assistance Center (ITAC) for assistance (245-4822 or 245-ITAC).
